Fishermen of Bengal

Fishing may be an act of passing leisure to some…it is presumed to be the most accepted livelihood of people after agriculture. Colonies have developed beside seas and rivers. Even a pond in the locality is the source of netting fish.
Bengal is said to be the land of pools and rivers. The large delta of the mighty river Ganges lies to the south end of Bengal. The largest mangrove ‘Sunderban’ is struggling for survival. Localities have extended in almost every corner of the eco system. Fishing is the main source of income there.
